Happy first day of Summer.

It was 101 here today and we're expecting the same the next few days. Summer is definitely here.

The theme at Collage Obsession this week is Beach Babes.

I found a fun vintage photo.

Then I added color and images from

Right away I thought of the legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova.

strange little people

This was another great Collage Obsession Challenge.

Rick St. Dennis gave us this sweet and innocent Victorian image to alter this week. Rick said he loves to take sweet things and make them into something not so sweet.

So the challenge theme was Strange Little People.

I can definitely do sweet and dreamy but I also like grunge and a good amount of dark so I took these adorable little children and invited them to play a little Show and Tell.

This week's theme for the Collage Obsession challenge is ROOM.

And here is the image provided. A surreal, stark and shabby room in shades of grey.

I really like this image the way it is. It makes a great background for all sorts of things.

So I imagined entering this room and finding a strange and colorful fairyland surrounded by these crumbling walls. Complete with it's own curious fairyland queen.

Then......after a while I thought about how I really wanted to highlight the room more. Maybe not fill it up so much (like I do in my real rooms!).

My favorite room in my house is where my work table is, and right next to that table is an old wingback chair I've had for over 20 years. It has a threadbare brown velvet slipcover I begged my mom to make for me to cover the dusty mauve upholstery. I love my chair. It's where I dream and recharge whenever I can pry my cat Luna off of it.

And so I made this second digi just for fun, with my version of a wingback chair using my favorite wings from Deviant Scrap again. I love the grunginess of this room and thought all it needed was a pop of color to make a perfect place to dream.

This week's Collage Obsession challenge was to take one or more of three different backgrounds and use it for our collage art.

I chose this image of a misty river. I love the dreamy quality and it also reminded me of the river that winds along my neighborhood, especially when the morning fog rolls in.

I just happened to be working on this gypsy image I picked up from the Graphics Fairy and thought it would be fun to work her into the background.

I added and played with a few images I have from Deviant Scrap

and came up with "Wings For Rent". Another fun digi challenge.

ursula's lazy day

I would definitely love to be Ursula today and while away the hours swinging in my hammock....sans clothing but wearing a fabulous smile. Here is my digi collage for this week's Collage Obsession challenge. Again another vintage image I couldn't resist. Thanks to Rick for providing the fun image and theme.

I have loads of catching up and a long to-do list for today so I better get started. Thank you for the input on the Artful Bag Challenge theme. I appreciate the great ideas and feedback. I will stick with the original plan for now and we'll go ahead with the traditional swap. I'll start a participant list on the sidebar so anyone interested in swapping can start emailing me now. I'll do another post with more details so please check back.

I think we saw the last of the rain this weekend and sunny skies and warmer temps are back. Wishing everyone a lovely lazy Monday!

Well this is something I haven't done in a while. Two posts in one day and a digi collage for Collage Obsession. I love the challenge image for this week and thought I would give it a try after being gone for a while. The challenge word is 'tramp' and the image provided is non other than the Little Tramp, Charlie Chaplin.

I used a vintage ad from a Mercedes auto showroom on the Champs Elysees (1910-1920) and the rest are from my collection of digi kits from Digital Scrapbook Place.

This week's theme at Collage Obsession is COWBOY. I live out here in the west and cowboys are a big part of Sacramento's history so I thought this should be fun. Here is the original image of a vintage cowboy. The more I worked with it the more I really liked this guy and his horse.

When I was little I loved watching reruns of Bonanza. Maybe I had a crush on Little Joe back then but there was always something romantic about old westerns that appealed to me. And if you ever saw Viggo Mortensen in Hidalgo it's easy to imagine falling in love with an old cowboy.

I had so much fun playing with it that I did another one.

I was so late with the Collage Obsession challenge last week that it threw me completely off and I forgot about the new one. This week's theme is ANIMALS. The orginal image is Jean Baptiste Huet’s stunning painting “A Pride of Lions”.

The image and colors are so rich and intense that I didn't want to take too much away from it. This is what I came up with.

Collage Obsession is back after being gone a few weeks. I thought I'd add my last minute piece tonight. As you know I've had Autumn on my mind so my angel is called 'Autumn Angel'.

UPDATE: I just did a bit of my rounds for Collage Obsession and want to say I've seen some really beautiful art from everyone. What amazes me is that in less than 15 minutes I've visited Germany, New, Zealand, South Africa, England and Canada. Don't you just love Bloggy Land!

My second collage for Collage Obsession. This week's word is 'DOOR'. I decided to use a door image I've had in my files and also my favorite Anna Pavlova ballerina pic. This is all digital and was just alot of fun to make.

'Door' was a perfect theme for me this week as I'm in the midst of opening a new creative door myself. This collage is about the magic behind that door once you find the key and being able to finally dance and take flight when you find your wings. But with a little whimsical twist of course.
