pink saturday, ruffled valentine treats and heart on a string

Is it Friday already? Where did the week go? It has been a busy busy crazy week here. The nice electrician was here and all our lights and plugs and all that stuff is working wonderfully again. I finished up the project I'm doing with my brother and I actually made a few more things for Valentines Day.

Oh I just adore pink again. Now that Spring is not too far away and there's so much pink around for Valentines Day I just couldn't help myself. I am even linking up with
Pink Saturday again this weekend so hello again to everyone.

I played with more paper hearts and streamers and thought a set of old fashioned paper heart lollies would be fun and sweet. I think I'm addicted to making these paper ruffles.

They can go on top of a lovely place setting for a romantic dinner, or tucked into a sweet bouquet of flowers. I might even try sticking one on a giant cupcake.

And there are even more pink hearts below.
I finished another one of my napkin girl collages.

This is "Heart On A String".
It's part of the same set as the one for my anniversary giveaway which is open for another week. Also mixed media collage on 8x8 canvas.

She is now in my Etsy shop along with the paper heart lollies.

I'm so excited about the next Artful Bag Challenge too. I just finished doing the pics for my bag and I can't wait to show you. I had so much fun making it. I think I'll post it on Sunday but I'll keep the January challenge open until Monday the 31st then I'll do the drawing for the book giveaway. Have a lovely and creative almost February weekend.

a special pink saturday

"Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul.
And sings the tune without words,
And never stops at all."
-- Emily Dickenson

This Pink Saturday our hostess Beverly of How Sweet the Sound is joining Kelee at the Katillac Shack for a Miracle Blog Party. The party is to celebrate Collette Gaultier's recovery. Collette is a cancer patient whose story was featured in Guideposts Magazine. In two and half days Collette's very bleak rental house bedroom was transformed into a comforting haven that became a sanctuary during her journey through chemotherapy.

The Katillac Shack is showing the video of the room makeover reveal. In addition you can leave a comment on that post which counts as a $1 donation from Design Gives Back to help the next person in need. You have a chance to donate up to $5 just by leaving a comment at a few different places. There are also some great prizes being given away. Information is all at the Kattilac Shack. Please go over there, watch the video and read Collette's inspiring story.

Happy Pink Saturday

Today I'm grateful for...

The gift of gratitude. It's so easy to take the little things for granted.
Stop every now and then and appreciate what you have in your life today.

an unofficial pink saturday

It's good to be back home. After a painfully long drive through Friday rush hour traffic we stumbled back in before 10 this evening. I missed my art stuff and my Luna who was so happy to see me. I finally sat down to catch up on bloggyland and saw that Eleni from A Pink Dreamer was sweet enough to feature me for Pink Saturday. Oh dear. I'm actually not on the Pink Saturday list this weekend as I told Beverly I'd be taking a break for a couple of weeks. But I couldn't disappoint Eleni and anyone that might stop by so I scratched my head and asked my brain to come up with something pink....

And I saw my pink and black box sitting under my tea cart and thought it's been a while since I had a peek inside. Surely there's something pink in there.

Look! I do have pink in here. My first art journal that was a project from Kelley Rae Roberts' book Taking Flight. This was the project that inspired me to try mixed media collage. I had never tried painting faces before but I enjoyed making this journal so much that I found I actually loved painting this fairy.

Oh and Vanita Crumpet (in pink) and her friend Hyacinth! They've been tucked away in here since I did a few little stories about them and their friend Mrs Pennie Bunny last spring. I didn't want to startle them so I kept the flash off on my camera. We're working strictly by chandelier light as it is after midnight....again, lol.

More pink. This is a coffee filter paper rose from another spring project. I think I need to try something new with those coffee filters again. Hmmm...

Well there you have it. My unofficial Pink Saturday post which has me thinking that maybe I don't need that break from Pink Saturday after all. Oh and I did sneak out to play the piano very quietly last night (I just used the very very high keys on the right). I still remembered how to play a little bit of Claire de Lune and you know when we were driving home tonight there was the most beautiful crescent quarter moon in the sky. I thought of my late night musical adventure and that tune stayed in my head while I followed that magical moon home. La bella luna.

Here is Claire de Lune played by someone who plays MUCH better than me!
This piece is so beautiful and one of my favorites (and I didn't realize they used this in the movie Twilight because I have never seen any of the movies yet and just found out while looking for a video on YouTube!)

Happy Pink Saturday!

pink saturday and a giveaway announcement

If you came by last week you saw my Pink Saturday post on all the lovely whimsical tents and canopies I adore. This week I thought of posting about what I'd like to hang under one of those canopies (and really anywhere else in my home as well). Remember how I gave my old chandelier a little gypsy makeover?

(Here's a picture from my Where Blogger's Create post last June.)

Well here are a few more chandeliers that are inspiring me again!

This is from a kids company in the UK called Mum Said.
I always find the best things across the pond!

I like the retro feel of this one. I'd love to put one in an Airstream!

This one is just precious. Maybe for a little girl (or big girl) room.

I'd love this in my creative space.

And this tea party one too! Also from Mum Said.

This one is $1150.00!! It's from Crayon Castles a very upscale design
company that specializes in childrens decor. They've been featured
on HGTV, Extreme Makeover and other shows.

Another one from Crayon Castles.

I love all of these. The sweet rose covered one, all the elegant pink crystal ones. The whimsical teapot and my favorite, this candy colored glass confection. It's inspiring me to give my chandelier another makeover and with Fall just around the corner I already have ideas for a whole new look! Hope you were inspired by a few of these too.

Happy Pink Saturday!

just wonderful and charming. To celebrate she's giving one of these pieces

Oh and here's the one she's giving away!

pink saturday

Do you remember playing under blankets or sheets when you were young? My brother and I would take one of my mom's old sheets or curtains and drape it over the dinning table. We would bring our toys and books and snacks under there. Sometimes we would hang the sheet under a tree, build a makeshift tent and stay in our own little world for hours. I never grew out of my  love for tents and canopies. Maybe that's why I love tent camping which to me is alot like playing house.

There's just something about being enclosed
in a cozy little space that appeals to me. I feel the same
way about old attics!

If I had one of these when I was a kid I would never come out.
Who am I kidding? If I had one now I would never come out!

Here's a grownup one I'd love to hang under my nectarine
tree in our backyard. Can you imagine sleeping
under the stars surrounded by this
cascade of pink?

Or maybe something more luxurious like this?

And this is just absolutely magical! The gypsy
in me is hopelessly in love.

How about a candlelight tea party under this pretty tent?

I even love this bright pink Moroccan style netting
which reminds me of those French gypsy caravans again.

Can't forget your furry babies!
How precious is this?

pink saturday

Happy Pink Saturday and thank you to our hostess Beverly
at How Sweet the Sound.

Come shopping with me at Home Goods and see the fun pinks I found.

How can I not take a picture of this pink 'A'?
I'm always tempted to get something like this and
then I think 'Do I really need it?'

The bedding behind it was very pretty though. This was in the little
girl's section where the entire aisle was an explosion of pink.

How now pink cow?
I thought this little cow was too adorable.

And this cuddly pink piggy is actually a dog toy.
I couldn't stand the thought of her being chewed up by a dog so I
bought her and took her home and named her Prudence!

Here's a pair of fancy pink earrings from Aurora Bijoux
(not from Home Goods) to go along with  a comment I read recently.
A woman's friend was telling her she could still fit into her high school jeans
so she quickly replied 'Well I still fit into my high school earrings!'
I thought that was cute.

Finally, I was out of town for a few days this week and I really
missed my Luna. When I got home she wouldn't stop
following me everywhere. She has the cutest
little pink nose so I thought I could sneak her in here!

Have a great weekend everyone and be sure
to visit Beverly for lots more pink!

pink saturday bags

Happy Pink Saturday! Thank you again to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting. Don't forget to visit her for more pinks.

Last week I posted one of my favorite (blue) bags so this week I'm going back to pink. These bags are ones I don't have but are on my wishful list!

I love Mary Frances bags. They're highly embelished and look like vintage Victorian and turn of the century bags. They're like little works of art. Most of her bags are little evening ones like this one but she recently started a line of bigger more practical bags. This one is from Victorian Trading Company. I love the crushed velvet and all the rose, mauve and amber hues. Don't know where I would use it right now but I would love to own one.

This Isabella Fiore fairy bag is in my favorite shape. A framed stachel. Again another little work of art. I think this has been discontinued but you can still 'borrow' it from Avelle.

You know how much I love Alice in Wonderland and here is a Madhatter tote from a line of bags from the movie. I've seen this one in person along with a few other designs I couldn't find online. They're very sturdy and well made heavy canvas. I just thought they would be so much fun to carry around.

Finally there's this pink cut velvet satchel from Petunia Picklebottom (of course I love the name). And believe it or not this is a diaper bag! A very fancy and rather pricey one ($350). Now they didn't have diaper bags like this when my son was a baby and if the price was a little more affordable I would actually use this as a regular bag. I love big bags with lots of compartments and this would be perfect. This color has been discontinued but there are lots more yummy ones from their Cake line over at their site.

Happy Pink Saturday!

pink saturday

At about 7 PM I suddenly realized I hadn't done my Pink Saturday post! I got caught up with my blog redo, discovering Frida Kahlo and getting very excited about a future Practical Magic (as in the movie) blog party. And as I looked around I realized that lately I've been into....not pink....but BLUE!

My favorite rose covered bag is blue.

Of course I still love pink and after a quick peek in my closet I pulled out a pink polka dot skirt I recently found at my local thrift shop. So I gathered my blues and placed them on top of a touch of pink.

I didn't realize I was collecting so much blue!
I even have a couple of bottles of blue nail polish.
I think it started right after I saw Alice in Wonderland.
Or perhaps I might be channeling Smurfette!

So today I may be true in blue but I'm always a pink girl at heart.

Happy Pink Saturday!

I'd also like to give a Pink Saturday spotlight to

Go and visit this lovely lady and sign up to join her Snail Mail Enthusiast
