dress up paper dress challenge

Yay! I made it. Time for the Dress Up challenge at Alice and Camilla and here is my dress....or actually  my dresses. I ended up making two. Yes two because I wasn't too happy with the first one so I tried another one. But then I reworked the first one and ended up liking both of them. I thought I would just share both since October is my favorite month.

It's time for a Halloween Ball. An early evening gala at a an old spooky mansion. Where chandeliers seemingly sway in time to a haunted waltz. And candlelight reveals shadows of ghosts from another waltz danced long ago.

As the moon rises above the tree tops our witch changes into a more sinister gown with raven wings as black as night. Her gown rustles softly as she steps into an enchanted October evening.

I first made this dress with sleeves then decided it looked too much like a bathrobe. The wings are a damask taffeta ribbon but the pattern is hard to see in the pic. I liked it better after I cut off the sleeves.

These October dresses were having way too much fun that they asked to stay out a little while longer. I'll have to convince them to hop into the wardrobe later but for now I think I'll join them at the old spooky mansion. Thank you for stopping by.

  10. I like both of them :-)

I think I would have lowered the chandelier on the orange dress a bit... and added something more on the shoulders... but they are both good :-)
Love the flowers on the black dress :-)

I've never been here and I have to say that this is really a feast to eyes! Wow! Thank you :-)

  22. Such wicked adornments! It's a good thing the one has sleevewings so that it can save the wearer of the other when they hang her from the ceiling in place of the normal chandelier!

    Happy Hauntings!

  25. I am so in awe of your talent. Your dresses are gorgeous. You have captured the mood of these two dresses with your words and story telling. I like the orange one with the chandelier best, but I would wear either in a pinch. I don't blame these lovelies for wanting to stay out of the closet for a few more days. I would, too.
